Honor X30 Launched With Snapdragon 690, Flagship-like Design

Honor has begun to reintroduce its popular lineups with the Honor 50 series, following months of preparation. The devices were a tremendous hit in China, and they also made it to Europe. The Honor X30i and Honor X30 Max were released in October, marking the beginning and continuation of the iconic Honor X-series. The Honor X30 is being introduced to the Chinese market as a last-minute launch for 2021. The new mid-range smartphone boasts impressive specs, a fresh new Qualcomm chipset, and a stylish design that makes it look like a flagship.

Details of the Honor X30

The Honor X30 is a sister to the Honor X30 Play, but it’s a more competent device. For example, we have a stunning 6.8-inch IPS LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It has a centered punch-hole with a resolution of 2,388 x 1,080 pixels. The renders show a smartphone with thin bezels, but we’ll have to wait for an official hands-on to find out for sure. After all, slimming down an LCD’s bezels isn’t easy.

The Honor X30 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, which was just released. This platform is built on a 6 nm process and supports 5G connection. The phone comes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage as standard, and the other model offers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The Honor X30 is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 66W rapid charging.

In terms of optics, the Honor X30 features a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth assist camera. Despite its flashy appearance, we believe that this setup is too basic, and that the phone deserved something better, such as an ultrawide camera. The camera is based on the Honor Magic 3 series, although it just appears to be better than it is. A 16 MP selfie camera is housed in a tiny punch hole cutout positioned below the earpiece.

Honor’s Magic UI 5.0 runs on top of Android 11 and comes in four color options: black, silver, gold, and blue. There’s no word on Android 12, although it’s possible that it’ll be released next year. Honor, after all, is free to use Android and update it, unlike its old parent firm.

Pricing and Availability
The Honor X30 is priced at CNY 1,499 ($235) for the base model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The top-tier model, which comes with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, costs CNY 2,299 ($361). On December 24, official sales will begin. The device is currently only available in China, and Honor has not stated when it will be accessible elsewhere.
