Vivo’s Y-series, which consists of smartphones with mid-range or low-end hardware but adequate batteries, is constantly expanding. The Vivo Y55s 5G, which has a large 6,000 mAh battery, was released a few weeks ago. It was the company’s first product with such a large battery capacity. However, it is now offering the Vivo Y55 5G, which is a variant of the s with a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. Everyone will agree that this is still a significant amount of money. The Vivo Y55 has the same display, resolution, and other features as its S-tier counterpart.

The phone has a 6.58-inch Full HD+ display with a Waterdrop Notch. The screen, on the other hand, refreshes at a regular 60 Hz. An 8 MP selfie camera is housed in the waterdrop cutout. The handset comes in two simple hues – Gradient Blue and Black – and has acceptable bezels for a low-end smartphone.

A triple-camera setup can be found in the back of the room. For the most part, Vivo’s mid-range smartphones use dual camera configurations. The business appears to have learned that not everyone is interested in several cameras if not all of them are actually useful. The handset, however, is an exception. The Vivo Y55 5G has a 50 megapixel main camera, a 2 megapixel macro camera, and a final 2 megapixel depth sensor.

Another gadget with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor is under the hood. Although this chipset is old, firms continue to use it because of its 5G features and affordable pricing. With a 7 nm design, two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.2 GHz, and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz, it’s still a respectable SoC. 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage are included in the device. If it isn’t enough for you, there is also a micro SD card slot for more storage.

Pricing and Availability
The Vivo Y55 5G costs NTD 7,990 (about $290). For the time being, no information on foreign availability has been released.

In terms of software, Funtouch OS 12 is a letdown. It’s still based on Android 11. Vivo has followed a puzzling trend with the launch of the latest smartphone. On higher-end devices, Android 12 and Funtouch OS 12 are already available. Those in lower pricing categories, on the other hand, will get an out-of-date version of Android 11. That’s bad, and it could be a deal-breaker for others. In any case, the phone comes with a 5,000 mAh battery that charges at 18 W through USB Type C.
