Microsoft Surface Duo Finally Gets Android 11 Update

The device, which was announced in October 2019 and released in 2020 with Android 10, was intended to receive Android 11 in 2021, but this did not happen. The business, on the other hand, hasn’t forgotten about its foldable phone, which is now receiving the Android 11 upgrade.

The Microsoft Surface Duo has finally been given a name. The upgrade brings the Surface Duo’s Android security patch level to January 2022, with firmware version 2021.1027.156. It also includes increased dual-screen viewing and editing of photographs in the OneDrive app, as well as optimized Quick Settings, an updated app drawer and folder design, and an improved dual-screen experience for viewing and editing photos in the OneDrive app.

The Android operating system is upgraded to Android 11. For more information on Android 11, click here. Addresses the circumstances detailed in the January 2022 Android Security Bulletin. When the top button on the Surface Slim Pen 2 is pressed, OneNote is launched. Surface Slim Pen 2 is required while using Surface Duo. Enabled under Surface Duo features, Settings, to select a preference for answering phone calls when the Surface Duo is folded. Select specific apps to automatically extend across both screens when you open them using the Surface Duo features in Settings. Quick Settings and notification width have been optimized for portrait and landscape orientations. In every device mode, you can adjust media volume straight from Quick Settings. With all device modes and application states, you may now use thumb mode in Microsoft SwiftKey. Improved drag-and-drop support in the app drawer and folder design.Updated cards and new Microsoft Start widgets for News and Weather have been added to the Microsoft feed design. Photos by OneDrive: In the OneDrive app, there’s a new dual-screen enhanced experience for viewing and editing photos. Xbox Game Pass: Use an on-screen controller to discover and play games from the cloud. Some devices, accessories, and software are available for purchase separately. Some apps and services require additional payments and/or subscriptions. The Surface Duo is getting Android 11 in North America and Europe, but unlocked AT&T units will have to wait because Microsoft is still “testing this release and it is pending final certification,” according to Microsoft.
