The Oppo A57 5G is a refined version of the Oppo A56 5G. The phone has a new chipset, more RAM, a better screen, and a few other improvements, but it’s still a budget phone. An entry-level phone that supports 5G
The Dimensity 810, a 6 nm version of the 700 chip with significantly faster clock speeds, powers the latest model. The base configuration now has 6 GB of memory (up from 4 GB), and an 8 GB option has been added. Storage remains at 128 GB (UFS 2.2 for the 6 GB model and UFS 2.1 for the 8 GB model), with a MicroSD slot for expansion.
Also worth noting is that this phone ships with Android 12 and Color OS 12.1 pre-installed (up from Android 11). The system has the ability to add up to 5 GB of virtual RAM.
The display has also been improved: the 6.56″ LCD now runs at 90Hz (up from 60Hz), although the resolution remains the same at 720 x 1,612 pixels. Although the image will not be crisp, it will have a large color spectrum. In natural mode, the display covers 100 percent of the sRGB spectrum, while in vivid mode, it covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 spectrum. The brightness remains constant at 480 nits.
In the camera department, not much has changed. The Oppo A57 5G has a simple configuration with a 13 MP rear camera (f/2.2) and a 2MP depth sensor, as well as a notched 8MP front camera (f/2.0). Both have a video recording limit of 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The battery has a 5,000 mAh capacity. It might have needed a boost from the default 10W charging, but it didn’t. The USB-C connector is used for charging, and the 3.5mm headphone jack is the other wired port. The stereo speakers are an upgrade over the previous model.
Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.2 with the high-quality aptX HD and LDAC audio codecs, and dual 5G are all available as options. While gaming, a secondary antenna on the side maintains a stable connection (as your hands may cover the primary antenna). Although there is no NFC, the side-mounted fingerprint reader secures mobile payment systems such as WeChat, AliPay, and others.
The phone, a cable and charger, a protective case, and a few more essentials are included in the retail package.
The Oppo A57 5G is available in Deep Sea Blue, Quiet Night Black, and Lilac.
Pre-orders for the Oppo A57 5G began today in China, and sales will begin tomorrow. For the time being, only the 8/128GB version is available for CNY 1,500 ($235/€215/$18,000/N99,000).
PS. If the reports are true, this hardware is similar (or almost so) to the Realme Q5i, which will be released next week.
