As expected, Xiaomi has officially introduced the Xiaomi Civi 1S in China. The handset is a lifestyle smartphone aimed at female users. It is not a successor, but rather a significantly improved version of the original Xiaomi Civi from late last year. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s take a look at what it has to offer.
Design and Display
In terms of appearance, the Xiaomi Civi 1S is identical to the original Xiaomi Civi. On the back panel, it sports a rounded rectangular camera island with a triangular triple camera system and a horizontal LED flashlight strip below it.
The handset’s frame is composed of metal, and the back panel is made of glass. It has a thickness of 6.98 mm and weighs 166 grams. Due to the diamond-like features below, the rear glass panel has a glossy, shimmering surface and comes in four different gradient color variations (black, pink, blue, silver).
The phone features a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The curved panel features a 10-bit color depth, 402 PPI, a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz, a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, and a centered punch-hole.
HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR standards are supported by the display. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects it and gives it a local peak brightness level of 950 nits.
Hardware and Software
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus processor is combined with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage on the smartphone. It’s backed by a 36-month anti-aging guarantee.
The phone comes pre-installed with MIUI 13, based on Android 12.
At the rear of the Xiaomi, Civi 1S is a triple camera arrangement. The system has a 64MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor.
The punch-hole on the front houses a 32MP Sony IMX616 camera with autofocus and dual soft lights. The CyberFocus human eye-tracking system is supported by this camera. This Xiaomi CyberDog-inspired function initially appeared on the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
Native Beauty Portrait 2.0 for good-looking portrait photographs and 4G Light Chasing Beauty Technology for makeup are among the camera’s capabilities. Xiaomi claims that its system, which employs a Generative Adversarial Network, works at the pixel level (GAN).
Battery and Charging
The handset is powered by a 4,500 mAh battery. Xiaomi’s own 55W fast charging is supported, as well as Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+.
Dual-SIM 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, NFC, and USB Type-C are all included in the Xiaomi Civi 1S.
It also includes dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a linear vibration motor, an under-display fingerprint reader, and an IR blaster.
