We’ve already covered a number of recent reports about the Apple iPhone 14 series. And now, according to the most recent rumour, an intriguing feature could be coming to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Multiple codes were discovered on the iOS 16 Developer Beta, according to a 9To5Mac article, pointing to the iPhone 14 Pro with Always On Display. This is also consistent with one of our past reports. We first reported on the iPhone 14 Pro series in May 2022, which featured Always On Display thanks to a faster screen refresh rate. The capability would be enabled because of the next-generation ProMotion display’s reduced variable refresh rate, according to the initial report.

According to the new claim, this feature was also included in the iOS 16 code. This includes three frameworks that iOS 16 could employ to improve the efficiency of the display backlight on the iPhone 14 Pro. A framework similar to this is commonly seen in smartphones with Always On Display. According to a recent source, the ProMotion display on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max would be able to go as low as a 1Hz refresh rate to save battery life and enable the Always On feature.

While the iPhone 13 Pro series had a 120Hz refresh rate ProMotion display, its panel only supported a 10Hz refresh rate. As a result, it couldn’t be used with the Always On Display function. However, with a better display, the forthcoming iPhones will be able to perform this function, and Apple is currently working on software support for it.
