There may be a new Redmi phone in the works from Xiaomi. The Redmi A1, which should not be confused with the fairly outdated Xiaomi Mi A1 (Mi 5x), was recently mentioned in a few in-depth leaks. First things first, though: Xiaomi has just released an official teaser for the gadget along with some stunning images that show the phone in a few lovely, soft pastel hues and with a back that has a leather texture finish.
A 5,000 mAh battery is also mentioned on the teaser page. We must look to one of the leaks for the remaining specifications. The Redmi A1 is believed to include an LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage system in addition to a 6.52-inch, 1600 x 720 pixel, 20:9 HD+ display powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 CPU. A 164.9mm x 76.75mm x 9.09mm, 192g body will house all of that in addition to the 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging, dual SIM and microSD card slots, a 3.5mm socket, and FM radio.
The camera system consists of an 8MP, f/2.0 primary camera and an additional, possibly depth-detecting, f/2.2 camera. The selfie camera on the front, is 5MP, f/2.2. Other features that are known to exist are Android 12.2, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi n.
Not to mention, we also have a live image of the gadget. Unfortunately, the front is displayed rather than the far more intriguing back side, which is made of leather. There is still no information on pricing, but Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi A1 is the first model in the brand-new Made in India Redmi smartphone line and will be available worldwide.
