Redmi Pad vs Samsung Galaxy Tab A8: Specs Comparison

Redmi has finally unveiled its first tablet, and it is unquestionably a fantastic gadget. It made its debut in the Asian market under the name Redmi Pad and comes with midrange-class features. Despite being this brand’s debut tablet, it is perfectly capable of competing with the top alternatives in its market. To win over a sizable user base, however, one must defeat a number of venerable tablet makers. Samsung is one of the most seasoned tablet producers and offers a number of tablets in the lower price range. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5, one of the company’s most recent low-cost tablets, is offered in India and around the world at very appealing pricing. Here is a comparison between the main specifications of the Redmi Pad and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5 has a really clean-cut design, which is why I adore it. There is only one sensor located on the rear cover and no camera module on the back side. The tablet is extremely thin—just 6.9 mm—and has a very high screen-to-body ratio as a result of its small display bezels. This tablet is more compact than the Redmi Pad and has four stereo speakers despite being quite thin. Speaking of the Redmi Pad, it has a larger screen-to-body ratio due to its thinner bezels around the screen, but it also includes a large camera module that somewhat ruins the rear design. It’s extremely intriguing that there is an aluminum frame present because it accounts for superior construction and a more durable design. Like its competition, this model also has four stereo speakers. Even though it is significantly larger and thicker, it is less in weight.

Display

Do you require one of the top displays in the price range? If so, you ought to choose the Redmi Pad. With a screen of 10.61 inches, a Full HD Plus resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a refresh rate of 90 hertz, and an average brightness of 400 nits, it sports an IPS LCD panel capable of displaying up to one billion colors. Despite being quite different from OLED panels used on midrange phones, it nonetheless provides excellent color reproduction. Due to its fast refresh rate, it is also quite smooth. Given how significantly inferior its display is to that of the Redmi Pad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 cannot possibly compete. It has a TFT LCD panel with a diagonal of 10.5 inches and a Full HD Plus resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels, however it cannot display as many colors as the Xiaomi tablet because it has a low refresh rate. Both devices, as previously indicated, have four stereo speakers, however only the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 has a 3.5 mm audio port, making it possible to use wired earphones or headphones.

Specs & Software

The Redmi Pad has the most potent hardware, and it is unquestionably superior to the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8’s hardware in every way. The Helio G99 mobile platform, one of MediaTek’s most recent midrange chipsets, powers the Redmi Pad. It is an octa-core processor with a 6 nm manufacturing process, two Cortex A76 CPUs operating at a maximum frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs operating at a maximum frequency of 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU. Up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of quick UFS 2.2 native storage are combined with the processor. An entry-level chipset, the Unisoc Tiger T618 with a 12 nm manufacturing process, may be found in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. It has an octa-core architecture with two Cortex A75 CPUs operating at 2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs operating at 2 GHz, and a Mali G52 MP2 GPU. There is a processor, up to 4 GB of RAM, and up to 128 GB of native storage, which can be expanded even further via a micro SD. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 ships with Android 11, whereas the Redmi Pad runs Android 12.

Camera

The front camera of the Redmi Pad triumphs owing to a fantastic 8 MP sensor with an ultrawide field of vision, making the rear cameras of these two tablets more or less comparable.

Battery

Last but not least, the Redmi Pad sports a larger battery and offers longer battery life due to both its larger capacity and its 6 nm chipset’s reduced energy consumption.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 costs less than €185/$185, whilst the Redmi Pad costs at least €250/$250. This comparison goes to the Redmi.
