Twitter Execs Confirm That Musk Has Sacked 50% Of Twitter Employees

Yoel Roth, Twitter’s head of security and integrity, confirmed the existing state of the company’s personnel. Who stays and who leaves has been unpredictable ever since Elon Musk took charge. About 50% of its employees lost their jobs yesterday, according to Yoel Roth. His message reads:

“Today’s decrease in force affected about 15% of our Trust & Safety department (as opposed to about 50% company-wide), with the least impact on our front-line moderation workers.” He asserts that this did not impact more than 80% of the content review volume staff, nevertheless. This shows that the company’s fundamental operations are still in place.

Several crucial areas of Twitter were severely impacted by the large layoffs the firm announced on Friday. The teams in charge of product and advertising engineering were among the hardest hit. Also severely impacted was the infrastructure crew, internally referred to as Redbird. In addition, a large number of the corporate communications team’s workers who ran the data centers lost their employment.

Twitter informed its staff through email yesterday that it would notify them of the layoff findings at 9:00 am. Before the layoffs, Twitter employed more than 7,000 people. It’s possible that this will result in a 50% reduction in the workforce. The business will inform staff members whose positions are unaffected by the layoffs of the outcomes via their work email accounts. According to Twitter, those affected by the layoffs will receive a notification at their home email addresses.

Several employees are currently unable to access their work email accounts. These are most likely the affected individuals.

Some workers assert that they are no longer able to use the system at night. This is taking place even before the sack is finalized.

“Looks like I’m out of a job. The company just remotely logged me out of my work laptop access and kicked me out of the Slack channel,” tweeted Simon Balmain, a former senior community manager at Twitter. “Always united. I love you both so much. It’s such a shame it ended this way.”

Balmain works remotely for a few hours each day while maintaining his UK residence and being a part of Twitter’s Los Angeles office. He provided more details on the method of his termination in an interview.

“Everyone got an email saying the company was going to make massive layoffs,” Balmain said. About an hour later, employees’ laptop access started being logged out remotely, along with Slack channels and Gmail company mailboxes”.

Twitter’s head of machine learning ethics, Rumman Chowdhury, provided a screenshot demonstrating his inability to enter his work account.

Choudhury added: “Imagine the relief you feel when you’re the target of the big villain Thanos.”

“Well, it’s true,” wrote Lauren Pinella Trelor, Twitter’s former head of onboarding support, “We’ve received layoff emails from the company. The experience and the sense of solidarity are unforgettable. The best days may not yet come, and I’m really sad right now.”
