Google To Enable 5G On Pixel 7 Series and Pixel 6a in India This Quarter

Even though they are officially available there, Google’s new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro smartphones, as well as the Pixel 6a introduced earlier this year, do not yet support 5G in India. In Google’s defense, Samsung and Apple only recently updated their 5G-capable phones to accommodate the Indian network. The search engine giant is still running a little behind schedule.

Google promises us in a formal declaration that a 5G-enabled OTA update will arrive sometime in Q1 2023. This was originally scheduled for December, but Google obviously missed it.

The company claims in the statement that it closely collaborates with Indian carriers to allow next-generation connectivity and adhere to regional laws and standards. Due to a large number of 5G-capable devices it sells in India, Xiaomi is also developing an update.
