Qualcomm scheduled a meeting for March 17. Given that the Gen 1 model was released in the spring of 2022, the American business is anticipated to release a new chipset from the Snapdragon 7 series, most likely Gen 2.
Although some speculations claim the next platform will be called Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1, it’s more likely that Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 will be released a year from now to fit the Snapdragon 8 flagship naming convention.
There isn’t much information available about this new chipset, but one leaked Geekbench listing indicates that it features four 1.8GHz Cortex-A510 cores, three 2.5GHz Cortex-A710 cores, and one 2.92GHz Cortex-X2 core. According to one leaker, the GPU has a 580Hz clock speed and is an Adreno 725.
If all the information is accurate, this will mark Snapdragon’s first use of Cortex-X2 on a midrange chipset. According to reports, TSMC used the 4nm process technology to construct the platform.
