The top-tier SoCs from MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Samsung have all been officially announced, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 now powering some phones in the wild, but we have yet to see how the other two function in practice. Now that we’ve seen some first benchmarks, the Dimensity 9000 appears to be the new CPU king of the Android market.
Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, posted some Geekbench 5 data on Twitter, showing the 9000 outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 in multi-threaded and single-threaded workloads. About a month ago, we saw similar results from the compound AnTuTu test and Geekbench 5 benchmark.
It’s worth noting that the Exynos 2200 and the Dimensity 9000 aren’t yet officially available, so their actual performance may differ. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, on the other hand, are already powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, therefore the findings above should be more representative.
